Torpet Mon Gothenburg - English

.... an abandoned croft in the middle of Gothenburg where nature was taking over the premises. That is, until we passed by on our bikes one day a little less than two years ago.
We spotted the house and saw the possibilities and discovered its context. Everything commenced in the winter of 2007 and we found ourselves to be the
happy owners of a croft that people in general considered to be eligible for destruction.

The house was in a terrible state when we bought it, someone broke in and stole the tile stoves, the water damage was extensive due to a heavy leakage from the roof, the chimney
was falling apart and when cleaning up inside we had to use wheelbarrows to get rid of all the rubble. Carefully we sorted out what could be reused and the rest was transported
to the nearest waste recycling site. (During this process we wondered what sort of project we had undertaken)

But a lot has happened since then and what does Torpet Mon look like today? The best way to get an answer to this question is to book a stay at our establishment.
Nowadays, Torpet Mon is our home, the home for our farm animals and for you, our valued guests. The nature that was taking over the decaying croft has been cleaned out
alongside creepy-crawly things and small animals. The house is now restored to its original splendour from 1909, using old techniques with a classic touch accompanied by
modern energy-saving and climate friendly technology.

The property has a long history of being used as a small farm and after years of decay it is turned into a farm anew. Vegetables, fruits and berries of all sorts are produced for
the daily needs, this is truly locally produced food from a farm in the middle of a city! We have free range Faverolle hens and Japanese quails providing the house with
light brown and spotted eggs. NisseMaj, the house cat, is keeping mice and other unwanted guests away from the croft, except for when she is taking a nap in the sun or
in front of one of the crackeling tile stoves.
